Plaid Cymru Secures Investment in Flood Protection Measures

Through to the Co-Operation agreement between Plaid Cymru and Welsh Government, a total of £214m is being invested in flood protection for communities across Wales.

Funding will be spent over a period of three years, with over £16.2m allocated to specifically address flooding in RCT, Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan.

Heledd Fychan, Plaid Cymru Member of the Senedd for South Wales Central has tirelessly campaigned for further support for flooded communities in South Wales, and said following the announcement:

“Residents and businesses across South Wales have experienced devastating flooding on numerous occasions over the past few years.

"This vital funding, secured through the Plaid Cymru Cooperation Agreement with the Welsh Government, is a step in the right direction to ensure that homes and businesses across the region are protected from future flooding.

Ms Fychan added:

This investment comes after years of campaigning for action to be taken to improve flood prevention in my region.

“There is still a lot of work to do especially as we still don’t know what went wrong two years ago, but I will continue to work with local communities to secure the answers they deserve.”
