People should have a voice in the future of Pontypridd

Plaid Cymru MS and RCT Councillor for Pontypridd Town Heledd Fychan has today launched a consultation to ask residents, businesses and visitors to Pontypridd to share their views on what they’d like to see happen to the currently vacant buildings in the town centre

This follows the recent report discussed by the Cabinet of Rhondda Cynon Taf Council about future developments of vacant buildings in the town, where it was clear that no public engagement had informed the plans.

Heledd Fychan MS said,

“People who live, work and visit Pontypridd should have a say on the future of the town, including all potential developments.

“Right now, it seems all decisions are being done to the town rather than with and the voice of the people that live, work and use the town is not being factored into the decision-making processes.

“When speaking to local businesses and residents, I have heard so many fantastic ideas that could and should be incorporated into these plans. I would therefore urge everyone that wants to have a say to complete the survey I have launched, so they can be presented to the Cabinet of RCT Council for consideration before any final decisions are taken.”
