Heledd Fychan MS to host third Cost-of-living Event

With the rise in the cost of living hitting communities in Wales hard this winter, I am inviting organisations from across the region to come together share their experiences of how the crisis is hitting those they support and what impact this is having on their organisations’ ability to provide this support. This is the third such event organised by myself and my team in 2022, and previous attendees as well as new are all welcome.

This event is an opportunity for organisations to talk directly to one another about the impact of the crisis they are witnessing in our communities, how they are responding, their plans for the winter, and what help they might need.

Whilst many of the key levers remain at Westminster there is much Wales can do independently to respond, such as capping social housing rent rises, bringing forward targets for abolishing child poverty, and starting talks with local authorities on debt bonfires for those with council tax arrears. I would like to hear from organisations about how we can work together to limit the impact of the cost of living catastrophe and how community organisations and public sector bodies can work together locally to help address this.
